.

.

i just read the above mentioned point from trendwatching.com, a web site i usually go and grab some interesting idea stuff.

as the website is identified itself in term of ‘trend watching’ also announce the trend and sell the in-depth information to the company who want to know the latest trend or this kind a stuff. moreover, the trend ideas could also classified in to several categories.

.

Interesting, but… how can i trust these information?

it’s one of the first ideas came up when i first went to the website.

.

browsing on them let me found out what i questioned…

A vibrant mix of cool hunting, new business ideas and trend spotting, findings are sent to our team of researchers and editors, and may be featured on sites like Springwise new business ideas or trendwatching.com. .

from this point, yet another social-networking term is generated?

thus, the notion and ideas of ’social-networking’ could be used wherever, whatever and any others purpose

not only hi5, facebook, myspace, youtube, and so on.

.

also, “the world is flat” and “the tipping point” let me think about this web site as a tools for create a infection and epidemic phenomenon.

.

in my opinion, there are many way to generate interesting content in order to attract the web audiences.

.

how can PR people (as well as marketing) using these ideas to gain consumer insight?

as well as using new-media tools to generate others type of web content?

.

realising and utilising the new media,

then… the opportunities are out there

am i still blogging?

“micro blogging is a form of blogging that allows users to write brief text updates”

may i still keep updat my post via twittering?

.

additionally,

in term of new media, web 2.0 and the user generate content, there are much more creativities are generated,

not only good information, data or impressive opinion on the blog post which can be accessed, but good stuffs are made by its fan. like twitter stuffs… it’s a lot more here

so, they are made and available surrounded us.

.

like this kind a stuff…

Twitter Balloon, another type of Twitter badge which make the users more fun on their twittering.

my day with \'them\'

however,

yet wordpress not allow people to embed this kind a flash media…

Yet we still got RSS feed which is another best choice.

.

in this assignments(ssss) periods,

i do love to post somethings on my PR&NewMedia Class’s blog

.

even in short text on the (left) slide bar,

can i say… i’m still blogging here?

may i have my coffee 2.0?

do you like coffee?

what’s your most favorite cup? hot? ice? blended? cream? caramel? and so on…

as i am a coffee consumer which create an average coffee consumption to reach (at least) 3 cups per day.

obviously, i prefer to make and serve my own favorite cup at home as well as having my best selection at a cafe’.

.

Hello Strabucks, can i have my coffee?

(hot, less sugar, more espresso shot,

and umm… but instead of having it with a muffin or pastry,

it much better if you could serve it with my favorite magazine,

or can i twittering while i sipping? … )

.

yes why not… here is the place for “Your Ideas. Your Starbucks.”

Mystarbucksidea.com

.

fortunately, one of the most admired global brand answer my question.

with a concept that tend to generates more than customer satisfication.

here are some concepts from this project which i could learn as PR and new-media implications.

  • it’s such a way of doing customer engagement : customer is the key focused on every business and today’s customer spent much more time to serf the cybersphere, also the communities in social-networkings is now happened as a typical lifestyle.
  • why don’t change the customer complains in to business ideas? is this feel much better?
  • vote system could be a way to manage all of the ideas (even they’re good or not) as well as a way to creating buzz word or viral marketing.
  • also, could it be an (active) online customer database?
  • not only the ideas on coffee or its products, but including much more ideas range from customer experience such as store atmosphere, service, to the social responsibility or community involvement.

.

due to the concept of web2.0 which firstly mentioned by Tim O’Reilly

“facilitate creativity, information sharing, user collaboration”

.

for my next time order at Starbacks,

could i have my coffee2.0, please?

while i was sleeping

be here now, the end of 2nd semester. we ( LeedsMet Student07/08 ) are in a periods of time which we really need to get pass as soon as possible. also, we do need time for well sleep in our warm bed.

but… while we was sleeping, time was flying. (tons of assignments are still awaited to be done.)

.

from above feeling… instead of made me continue feel asleep, it awake me and let me ready to moving forward. by reminding me about one of my all time favorite book.

book cover - click for more details from the publishing “The World is Flat”

the author use this view that world as flat or level as a metaphor to describe the recently global competition, where all competitors have an equal opportunity.

“The playing field is being leveled”

here is one of the notions which this book show us about the 10 great levelers

1. Fall of the Berlin Wall

2. Netscape IPO

3. Work flow software

4. Open-sourcing

5. Outsourcing

6. Offshoring

7. Supply-chaining

8. Insourcing

9. In-forming

10. Wireless

—————————————————-

the last two points which concern about the internet and technology was suggested by the author…

  • In-forming “Power searching allowed everyone to use the Internet as a “personal supply chain of knowledge.”
  • Wireless “Like “steroids,” wireless technologies pumped up collaboration, making it mobile and personal.”

.

and here’s what I’ve learned from PR and New-Media class

that relate to those above changed.

  • 37% of all Americans who go online were engaged with user-generated content.
  • 40% of the stories are written in blogs by non-journalists
  • Nearly 31% of stories originated on sites such as YouTube and Technorati that also offer citizen-generated content.

(data from the Interview conducted by PEJ researcher David Vaina, January 10, 2008.)

coz we now in the era which affect from a massive shift in the distribution methods of the media. also moving forward with the continuously change of new media development.

for instance,

  • Digital radio has led to more stations and better coverage of the country. also, podcasts are created in different kind of contents.
  • in term of hardwares and gadgets, this high competition market led the global hi-tech brands develop their product performances such as provide the customer with smaller and practical. also, offer the technology which Internet connection is anywhere so that we are now can read and write blogs, articles etc on the move.

.

coz “The playing field is being leveled” says globalization guru

Thomas Friedman Thomas Friedman

.

we should not sleep too long…

coz, not only the assignments are awaiting for us, but also there are many things could be learned and shared with the others. from UK to Thailand, my hometown… it’s not that far.

.

then, we can reach the same opportunities and absolutely compete in the same flatten world.

.

Branding | online, offline or between the line

in typical day, we make conscious decisions to eat, drink buy or wear particular product or labels.

it seems like the impact of branding on our society has been enormous.

brands and branding are all around.

.

“Branding, in all its shapes and forms,

comes down to how an organisation present itself ,

and more importantly, how its audience perceives it.”

.

product and service remains essentially the same.

Branding is branding, weather it’s online or offline.

.

“it’s about being able to establish a set of values and a set of behaviours that support your brand

and making sure that everyone experiences this.

The web is just another way of communication with your audience.”

says Neil Svensen, co-founder of UK-based brand design consultancy Rufus Leonard.

.

in my opinion…

even internet comes to our typical lifestyle, changes some aspects in our ways of life,

as we, the marketer or pr practitioner,

can we say that… it has proved to be a the best bridge between brand and consumer, a cheapest and easiest way for companies or any kind a businesses to communicate with their customer.

but… the essence itself hasn’t changed that much.

.

coz a great idea remains a great idea.

even it’s conveyed by any different types of mediums.

.

.

like these admired brands

focus on cafe’ atmosphere as much as quality and taste of coffe.

เน้นการสร้างบรรยากาศในร้าน พอๆกับคุณภาพของกาแฟ

.

create the sense of proud as well as provide the high quality and best guarantee.

ให้ความสำคัญกับความภาคภูมิใจของผู้ใส่ ไม่น้อยกว่าความเที่ยงตรงของเวลา

.

make its hardware design unique and full of creativity as well as improve its software capabilities.

เน้นการออกแบบ Hardware ที่สวยงามและมีเอกลักษณ์ ควบคู่ไปกับประสิทธิภาพของ Software

.

coz between the line… ideas are all around

journalists – do they want to know about your product or you?

book cover - click for more details from the publishing Press Here!

Managing the Media for Free Publicity

eihe:   Prentice Hall
Author:   Annie Gurton
Verlag:   Prentice Hall

——————————————

There are lots of interesting points are wrote in this book, via the real experience of the professional who work in PR and Media Fields.

One of its aspects that impressed me is the way it present the ideas and use the simply but touching style of writing to convey the messages.

For instance… this topic

“Does a journalist want to know

about your product or you?”

.

(let’s see how the book firstly give the answer…)

.

No – they are looking for stories and quotes. So the trick is to give them what they want (news, facts and quotes), which include your story.”

.

(so… it’s mean the naure of the journalist is…)

.

” ** journalist can write anything they want(provide it’s legal) – but they need input to create the copy.** “

.

(as a PR people… how can we work with?)

.

Journalist rely on people like you. They may serf the net, read the news, talk and gossip, but they also depend heavily on PR professional to:

- give them stories

- pass on rumours

- offer them quotes and opinions.”

From a snippet of a whisper the journalist will develop a news story idea. They may use your comments to flesh out an existing story.”

.

(what exactly the journalist want?)

.

“the journalist will not want to know about your product unless it has some clear relevance or impact on their audience. Present the information about your product so that it satisfies the journalist’s need to educate, entertain and inform the audience. “

.

I think it gimme a basic aspects of the relationship between PR people and the press,

but it hit to the point which clarify me about the important issues to keep in mind.

- know who is who, both the journalist as the counterpart and the audience as the customer which living in mass or nitch culture.

- create the interesting stories for them… encourage the target audience to talk about our story.

- The use of new media tools and the growth of internet, keep an eyes on what people in cybersphere are interesting, keep updating and what are the places(websites) they are frequently going. Then, try to create or provide the stories among them.

last but not least…

- even the professional journalist won’t interest in your(our) stories (coz they tend to more interested in advertisement)… we still got chance to reach our audience… again “the new media” and the action of “Citizen Journalism

So, what do you think?

web 2.0 – another impressive way to understand what it is

.

this media was created by mediatedcultures.net

i saw it on 2007, in that time it was completely amazing me.

then i think i should find this links to share u guys here.

.

after saw this work, what do u think? ;)

podcast – the treasure around you

2006, the first time that this word “podcast” was brought to my sight because the use of iPod as a portable media player.

i just wonder how podcast function which provide in its menu could work?

again and again, by google searching, i knew more about it via wikipedia.

“A podcast is a collection of digital media files which is distributed over the Internet, often using syndication feeds, for playback on portable media players and personal computers. The term podcast, like “radio“, can refer either to the content itself or to the method by which it is syndicated; the latter is also termed podcasting. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster.”

.

since the first time i listened to the first podcast. it was 2 years past, i found more and more interesting media files which are generated in term of podcast.

here are some of podcasting channel i would recon,

* UChannel Podcast : A collection of public affairs lectures, panels and events from academic institutions all over the world. Archives of past lectures.

* Business English Study : Entrepreneurs, companies, products podcast

* HBR IdeaCast : from the publishers of the Harvard Business Review and the Harvard Business School Press, features breakthrough ideas and commentary from the leading thinkers in business and management.

* London Business School Podcast : A series of podcasts, sharing the latest in news and thought leadership from London Business School

VintageToon Cast : There are a significant number of cartoons from the 30s, 40s, and 50s that are no longer protected by copyright, allowing for their free distribution.

TWIT (This Week in Tech) : a famouse American podcast about technology talk and so on.

above metioned links are just some sample, there are more and more useful stuff (as well as junks).

via any podcast directory, especially podcast searching function in iTune Store (you can find it after u install the program it in the left menu bar). let’s grab some of them which fit to your own interest, from entertainment, education, fashion to political issues inside the world of podcast.

let’s find your own treasure. :)

** if u are not yet know about the podcast, there are a few issues to know

- you don’t need to have an iPod whereas you can use any media player or just your computer to play them.

- most of podcasts allow users to direct download, by giving a link to the audio file in an RSS feed or web page.

- with RSS feed you can subscribe to the feed by using podcasting software then the new episodes will be automatically downloaded to your computer.

- i recon iTune which is the best media player including podcast searching. install it then u can use as a media player and looking for tons of podcast which suit to your interest.

* you don’t need to own an iPod, this program also free to download

.

to kill the time…

not only music,

there are more and more useful and interesting stuffs for us

   stay tune!

what are we doing… “here” ?

The great thing about broadcast is that it can bring one show

to millions of people with unmatchable efficiency.

But it can’t do the opposite – bring a million shows to one person each.

Yet that is exactly what internet does so well.

…..

The Long Tail ; Chris Anderson

.

.

Since here to nowadays, we don’t know what exactly numbers of people around the world who are watching thousands of T.V. Channels via broadcasting.

but, we do familiar with those kind of media stuffs, television, radio, cable or satellite, and so on.

as well as we usually grab a remote control to change from channels to channels, which it may take time more than watching.

we are selecting or we are selected?
